Thief Crashes Stolen Car

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Springfield Police say a car involved in a crash Monday morning was stolen from a dealership.

SPD says it received several calls around 8:30 a.m. of a 2011 Honda Accord driving the wrong direction on Main Street.

A few minutes later, officers got a call about an accident at Pioneer Parkway and Centennial Boulevard involving that same Honda.

Police say Michael Patrick Hill left the scene and tried breaking into another car. Officers arrested Hill and determined had stolen the Honda Sunday night from Lithia Toyota in Springfield.

Hill was taken to the Lane County Jail and faces charges of: unlawful use of a vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving, hit and run and criminal mischief.
