SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Springfield and surrounding areas saw a widespread power outage early Thursday morning. Between 11,000 and 12,000 Springfield Utility Board customers were affected by the outage.
According to SUB, lightning caused the transmission failure. Crews worked to correct the problem, which affected the areas of Mohawk and Jasper. The first calls of the outage came just after 5 a.m. and power was fully restored by 7 a.m.
