Springfield Police were dispatched to a house on L Street around 8 p.m., on a report of a burglary. Upon arrival, officers learned that $250 in change was stolen and the suspects had fled the scene.
Officers notified nearby businesses of the burglary and to keep an eye out for large amounts of change.
Around 8:30 p.m., employees at Walmart notified SPD that three juveniles turned in over $250 in change to the CoinStar machine inside the store. A Loss-Prevention Officer followed the suspects until police were able to arrive.
After interviewing the three suspects, white males ages 17, 17, and 15, it was determined they were responsible for the burglary.
Additional property found on the suspects linked them to at least two more residential burglaries. SPD are investigating the possibility that the juveniles are responsible for other unsolved burglary cases in the area.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Springfield Police Department.
