Thurston H.S. Put on Lockdown

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Thurston High School went into lockdown just before noon Monday as a precaution.

A neighbor notified a school resource officer after he saw two teenage boys in Thurston Park. One had a scoped rifle, likely a .22 caliber.

The neighbor says the boys leaned the rifle against a fence in the park, when they saw him.

The school was locked down for about 30 minutes while police checked out the area. They didn’t find anything.

The boys were wearing plaid shirts and jeans. One was 5’7” tall and pudgy. The other was 5’9” with a thin build. Both had light brown hair.
