EUGENE, Ore. — You can make a child’s wish come true this holiday season. KEZI 9 News kicks off its Toys for Tots campaign with an all-day drive with the U.S. Marine Corps on Tuesday.
Thousands of children in Lane County are at risk of going without a toy during the holidays. You can change that by dropping off a new or unwrapped toy at Bi-Mart on 18th and Chambers in Eugene.
The drive is collecting toys for all ages, babies to 13 years old. But the greatest need is toys for those 0 to 2 and 9 to 13 years old.
It’s more than just delivering a toy truck or doll. It’s about delivering a message of hope. “It warms your heart, on December 14 and 15 watching kids receive the toy is unbelievable. If it doesn’t bring a tear to your eye, you are in the wrong country,” says U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Thadd Pooler.
The goal is to collect around 30,000 toys. You can also donate money or checks made payable to Toys for Tots.
There are also drop off locations at Bi-Mart stores, fire stations and police stations.
