About a dozen volunteers with the Marine Corps and Eugene Fire went shopping at the Toys R Us in Eugene. They spent $10,000 at the annual Toy Buy event.
Organizers say the gifts will go to more than 4,000 local families in need this holiday season. The money they spent came from shoppers who donated last year.
“All that money came from Lane County, specifically from this store. So we get to take that money and send it right back into the community,” said Staff Sgt. Thadd Pooler.
Toys for Tots is collecting gifts for all ages, from babies all the way up to 13 year olds. If you’d like to donate, there are drop locations at all local Bi-Mart stores, fire stations and police stations.
