TrackTown Tuesdays Come to a Close

EUGENE, Ore. — The excitement of the NCAA Championships was relived as TrackTown Tuesday came to a close.

Dozens turned out to the Valley River Center to ask questions about their favorite track athletes.

Elijah Greer talked about the thrilling moments leading up to his 800M win at the championships. Gold medalist Ashton Eaton answered questions about what’s next for him following his record setting performances last year.

It’s these types of settings and interactions, that help to motivate the athletes.

“After coming here, I go back and think yeah, I’m excited for competition,” Eaton said. “People actually care about how I’m competing and how I feel. I mean, we compete for ourselves, but we compete for the fans as well.”

“These fans really do care about the athletes,” said Mac Fleet, 1500M NCAA Champion. “No where else can you get all these people to show up in a mall or at a brewery or at a hotel.”

Tracktown USA President Vin Lanana wrapped up the night with a preview of next year’s World Junior Championship, that’s coming to Hayward Field.
