It says about 20 trees near the western shoreline of the lake near 75200 London Road were cut up with chainsaws, axes or hatchets back in May.
The corps says the trees will likely weaken and die and could end up falling on roads and power lines.
“It’s very possible that somebody could have seen what they were doing or heard what they were doing. We’re hoping that person will report to us what they know,” said Christie Johnson, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Park Ranger.
Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Portland District’s Security and Law Enforcement Office at 503-808-4440, where they can leave an anonymous tip. Those who provide information leading to an arrest can earn up to $1,000.
