Crews are repairing it after the city noticed several pieces of rotting wood and other safety hazards.
A detour will take cyclists to 39th Avenue and Hilyard Street. Project managers say it might be inconvenient for a few days, but they’d rather be safe than sorry.
“The main object of this is to make sure that our pedestrian and bicycling bridges are safe for the people who use them,” said Chris Girard, Eugene Public Works spokesman.
The bridge is scheduled to be closed until Friday.
