Two Arrested After Pursuit

EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene police are asking for witnesses in connection with a dangerous pursuit.

Someone called 911 Tuesday night after seeing a suspicious male and female in a car parked in front of the Ivy Market on Highway 99 and Roosevelt in a black Ford Explorer.

Police say the man was armed with a handgun and made a gesture with his other hand like he was shooting the caller. The caller was concerned they were getting ready to rob the market.

When police responded, the suspects took off, leaving town on Roosevelt Boulevard. The suspects made it to Royal and North Terry where the vehicle was forcibly stopped by the officer.

Police captured 43-year-old Tammy Tobiason at the scene on outstanding warrants. Forty-year-old Jeffery Dean Zimmerman took off. With the help of a Taser, police took him into custody on several charges.

Officers found two realistic pellet guns and holsters in the suspects’ vehicle.

Police say at one point during the chase, the vehicle went into oncoming traffic and endangered at least one other driver. Police are asking any witnesses to call Officer Robert Rosales at 541-968-5609.
