Two Cats Thrown into Willamette River

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Two adult cats are safe and sound at the Springfield Police station, after someone saw them being thrown into the Willamette River Friday night near Island Park.

The witness watched a woman get out of a red minivan and throw the cats into the river. Springfield Animal Control officers responded and were able to rescue both of them. Animal control is seeking out foster or permanent homes for the cats.
