Two Die in Crash on HWY 20

EDDYVILLE CRASH1UPDATE: OSP says two students from Oregon State University died in the crash. Abigail Patricia Emerson, 21, of Roseburg, and Christopher J. Kazanski, 24, of Madison, Wis. died after their car was submerged in the Yaquina River.

EDDYVILLE, Ore. — Oregon State Police are investigating the cause a deadly crash along Highway 20, Sunday.

Troopers say it happened near milepost 17. They say a 21-year-old woman lost control of her car while trying to navigate a turn, almost hitting another car before going into the Yaquina River.

Witnesses were not able to get the woman or a 24-year-old male passenger inside the car. Both died on scene.

    Christopher Kazanski (Topher) was one of my best friends. He would light a room up with his smile, and in the years I have known him, he has never done so much as hurt a fly. He did not deserve this.

    For the sake of the people you care about and love, please drive safely. I don’t know what else to say.
