Meteorologist Melissa Frey’s Forecast Discussion:
This is one hot summer! in fact, it’s the 5th hottest on record for Eugene. The high temperature was 96° again yesterday in Eugene, making this the 4th time we’ve made it to 96. We’ve been over 90 degrees 12 times already and it’s not even August!
The normal days above 90 degrees is 16, and typically we don’t see our last 90 degree day until September 11th. So we still have a long way to go before cooler weather is the norm.
High pressure is anchored over the western half of the U.S. and will keep us in the mid 90s again today, low 90s Friday.
Saturday will be the transition day to cooler weather. This ridge will begin to break down and a trough will move in from the Gulf of Alaska. This will bring in slightly cooler air and drop our highs to the mid 80s Saturday and low 80s by Sunday. We’ll keep it parked right there through the middle part of next week.
