Two Springfield Schools Prepare to Shut Down

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — In a couple weeks, two Springfield schools will be shutting down for good.

Both Brattain and Moffitt elementary schools are holding ceremonies on Friday night to celebrate each school’s history.

Next year, students will all attendĀ Two Rivers–Dos Rios Elementary School.

It’s housed in the renovated old Springfield Middle School building.

“They did believe that it would be more structurally sound to have more students together; hence, more resources to support those students. It will more aptly fit our target elementary school size at about 450-500 students in an elementary school,” said Springfield School District Spokesperson Jeff DeFranco.

Moffitt Elementary is scheduled for demolition in December.

Brattain Elementary will be used to serve other district programs and partners.
