SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Springfield Police released the names of the two men arrested in Saturday’s shooting outside Walmart, that sent one person was transported to the hospital with gun shot wounds.
Police set up a perimeter around a Springfield neighborhood on West N Street and Prescott Lane on Saturday evening. The shooting that started about three miles away and ended in the neighborhood when police caught both suspects.
Police say Anthony Enlow and Cory Monpas fled the scene after the shooting at the Walmart on Olympic Street around 4 p.m. After leading police on a chase, both took off on foot in different directions. Shortly after arriving on the scene, police caught the first suspect, Anthony Hillenius, who also goes by Anthony Enlow. About an hour later, the second suspect, Cory Monpas, was caught.
“This was a good incident where units from different agents Eugene police, Springfield police, Oregon State Police, and Lane County Sheriff’s Office were also involved. We were able to come together, even on different radio channels, and come together and put the case together,” said Springfield Police Officer Justin Myers.
Police say they don’t believe this to be a random shooting and that both parties knew each other. They’re also looking for a third person they believe arranged the meeting.
Both suspects that were caught are 20-years-old and from Cottage Grove.
The victim is still in the hospital in serious condition.
