Police Arrest Online Sexual Predator

CORVALLIS, Ore. — A suspected online sexual predator is offline thanks to a successful undercover operation. Corvallis police arrested 65 year old James Maulding, of Silverton, on Friday.

The investigation began in the beginning of May. Police say Maulding engaged in several sexually explicit conversations online with someone he thought was an underaged girl. Little did he know, he was chatting with an undercover officer posing as the victim. It wasn’t until last Friday when police say Maulding took it to the next level.

“Last Friday, he actually came to Corvallis in an attempt to meet with this female juvenile to engage in sex,” said Lt. Cord Wood of the Corvallis Police Department.

When he arrived, police arrested him. He’s facing one count of attempted rape in the second degree and one count of online corruption of a child. His bail is set at $175,000.

He’s going to have a hard time pleading “not guilty” with emails and showing up in person.

As if a kid would actually want to have sex with an old man….

well, prison will introduce him to the kind of justice they dish out for these sorts of offenders.
