EUGENE, Ore. — Food for Lane County and Toys for Tots have been collecting donations for the past two days.

On Sunday afternoon, volunteers helped unload an LTD bus full of food and toys.

Volunteers separated the food and the toys, sending the toys with marines who came to unload for Toys for Tots.

Food for Lane County says it’s warehouse is bare this time of year and filling it up for the holidays is crucial to help families in need.

“Oh my goodness, our community has done such an amazing job giving us exactly what we want. We have some phenomenal toys and these kids, their dreams are going to come true this holiday season. Also, the food that we’ve asked for, we have tons of high protein, low sugar, and low sodium (foods),” said Alicia Hines with Food for Lane County.

Over the past few days the bus has made stops to pick up donations at Wal-Mart in Eugene and Springfield.

Food for Lane County says it collected 7,915 pounds of food this year, compared to the 7,000 pounds last year.

The bus has been “unstuffed” but if you are still interested in donating, Food for Lane County says there will still be barrels at local Wal-Marts until Tuesday, November 19.
