UO Books Series of TED Talks

EUGENE, Ore. — One of the most popular video sharing websites chose Eugene for one of its upcoming events.

The University of Oregon booked a series of TED talks seminars in February.

TED talks have been viewed online more than 1 billion times. The website posts inspiring and educational short lectures from noted speakers.

The site often features college professors and UO wanted to showcase some of theirs. Organizers are hopeful that the videos will promote both the university and the Eugene community.

“I’m excited about the idea of sharing, having ideas worth sharing and getting the community engaged with the university professors to see that they do more than just academic dry talks,” said Rita Radostitz, UO Student Affairs spokeswoman.

The university also plans to have one of its undergrad students give a speech, and a representative from the 4J School District will also present.
