UO Employee Arrested on Sex Charges

EUGENE, Ore. — A Eugene man was arrested Thursday morning for sex crimes involving children.

Russell Crummett, 49, has been indicted on several charges, including multiple counts of first-degree sex abuse and first-degree sodomy.

Police say Crummett abused at least three girls, between the ages of 6 and 12, over a period of months. The girls were acquaintances, but not family members.

Crummett is a complex facilities manager at the University of Oregon’s College of Education, a position which did not include interaction with children.

The UO says it has placed him on administrative leave. Investigators don’t believe the crimes Crummett is accused of were committed at the UO or involved anyone connected to the UO.

Police are concerned that there may be more victims. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Eugene Police Detective Ralph Burks at 541-682-5166.
