EUGENE, Ore. — The Oregon Marching Band spent this winter fighting funding, but the University of Oregon won’t have to pony up any money to get the band to Indianapolis.
The NCAA pays for all the teams’ bands to travel for the tournament.
The band is taking 29 students to help bring a little bit of Matt Knight Arena to Lucas Oil Stadium. The band’s director says his students are grateful to the athletes for getting this far.
“Everybody in the band knows, without their effort and without their success, we don’t get anywhere. We appreciate the effort that they put in. The students are aware of that and thankful for the opportunities,” said Eric Wiltshire, UO Marching Band Director.
The band hopes to make the players feel a bit more at home on Friday.
