UO Ranks High in Public Research

EUGENE, Ore. – A new study by the U.S. News and World Report ranked the University of Oregon among the top public research universities and best national universities.

The UO was ranked 53 in public research universities and 109 in best national Universities.

The rank in Best National Universities puts the UO in the top 8 percent of the institutions evaluated by U.S. News and first in among the Oregon public institutions.

“The University of Oregon is an outstanding public research university with a great faculty and terrific student body,” said Michael Gottfredson, UO President. “It’s a great place to go to school, and we are continually working to further elevate the undergraduate experience.”

“The UO has enrolled successive classes with record-breaking grade point averages and test scores, as well as record levels of socioeconomic, racial and ethnic diversity. And our students are thriving at a top-tier research institution,” said Roger Thompson, UO Vice President for Enrollment Management.
