UO Student-Run Newspaper Becoming More Digital

EUGENE, Ore. — The University of Oregon’s student-run newspaper — The Daily Emerald — will soon undergo some major changes.

After 92 years, the paper will no longer be a Monday through Friday publication.

The new paper will come out twice a week and look more like a magazine, and mobile apps will accompany the published version.

The staff affirms the changes weren’t made out of financial desperation.

“We need to be ahead of the curve. We can’t wait until we are forced to make a change. We want to be on top of it while we are still thriving and doing really well,” said Editor in Chief Tyree Harris.

The new changes will go into effect for the fall semester of the 2012-2013 school year.
