EUGENE, Ore. — The University of Oregon unveiled a new Veterans’ Center Saturday.

Sen. Ron Wyden and Rep. Peter Defazio spoke at the ribbon cutting ceremony. During the ceremony the UO band played each branch of the armed services songs. Speakers honored the veterans and the ceremony and all spoke about what an honor it is to have the new center.

University veteran leaders said there are between 700 and 1,000 veterans on campus. Veterans said they were excited for the opportunities the center will provide.

“If student activists gather, then it helps out with everything else; so me and my┬áco-director┬ádecided, me and McKenzie Suther, that we were going to do this, we were going to make this huge push and find the help to get this,” said Jonathan Brunton, UO student veteran.

Student veterans worked with the vice president of student affairs to get the center built.

I don’t like the fact that the United States sticks their noses in other sovereign nations business which includes killing innocent civilians in due course, including many, many of our troops. But thats another comment…

The brace men and women or our nations armed services and its Veterans deserve our thanks and the utmost respect for what they and their families have given…! They deserve everything and anything we can do or give to them during their tours and especially when they get home!
