EUGENE, Ore. – The United States Air Force Band of the Golden West is kicking off a free concert series in Oregon. The 50-member band is stationed outside of Sacramento, and will kick off the tour Saturday night in Florence.
The critically acclaimed musicians travel thousands of miles every year, entertaining audiences with music, fun, and surprises.
“We use the power of music to inspire and bring the message of the Air Force to the people of the West Coast,” said Captain Jason Plosch, Commander of the Band of the Golden West. “We’re the only active duty Air Force band west of The Rockies.”
Captain Plosch says their unique concerts offer a range of different styles of music.
“We play something for everybody. Rock and Roll, country, concert band music, marches, lots of patriotic music,” said Captain Plosch. “This particular concert series, we have a little bit of a blast from the past.”
Saturday night’s concert will be at 7:00 p.m, at the Florence Events Center. Sunday, the band will perform at Oregon State University’s LaSells Stewart Center, in Austin Auditorium at 3:00 p.m.
The Eugene concert will take place Tuesday, June 10, in the South Eugene High School Auditorium at 7:00 p.m.
Captain Plosch says, if you show up without a free ticket, you’ll be admitted ten minutes before the concert starts.
