Vaccination Deadline Next Wednesday

EUGENE, Ore. — Lane County families have just more than a week to get their children their immunizations or else they won’t be able to attend school.

State law requires that all children who attend school are up to date with their immunizations, but Lane County recently identified more than 2,000 kids who still need certain shots. County health staff sent letters to those families, warning them about the possibility of excluding those children from school.

“If we have a high number of kids who remain not immunized, then we can’t achieve that community immunity, and our entire community in Lane County is at risk,” said Jason Davis, public health spokesman.

Pharmacies cannot provide pediatric immunizations, but families can go to urgent care or Lane County Public Health to get those shots.
