Vehicle Thefts Increase

EUGENE, Ore. — The Eugene Police Department is reporting a sudden spike in car thefts. The vehicles are not just broken into.

So far this year, EPD has investigated 310 vehicle thefts. Almost a five percent increase over the same time last year.

In just the past two weeks 31 vehicles have been reported stolen.

Police say it’s important to lock your cars, remove valuables and use an anti-theft device like a club to deter criminals.
