EUGENE, Ore. — There are many ways to pay tribute to those who have served our country this Veterans Day.
One annual event that’s open to the public is the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month ceremony. This year, two special guests will speak at the ceremony. Eugene writer Bob Welch will talk about his latest book, “Resolve,” which profiles a soldier during World War II.
Sgt. Bryan Boender, an Afghanistan veteran, will also speak. He’s now an attorney in Eugene and devotes his life to helping his fellow veterans.
“I take a lot of pride in my service and I take a lot of pride in my work that my fellow veterans are doing. I feel obligated to serve them in turn and a significant piece of my law practice is in serving veterans and veterans issues,” says Boender.
A tenor singer will perform the National Anthem and God Bless America. Several people from the Veterans Color Guard will post the colors.
Several events throughout western Oregon will honor those who have fought for our country. All events listed take place Monday, November 11.
