EUGENE, Ore — A group of veterans lined up outside of the local VFW hall Wednesday for a free eye check up. It’s all part of a mobile health clinic that travels around the country offering Veterans free eye exams with the help of a local optometrist.
The clinic expected to see around 30 veterans on Wednesday. While many of the vets already wear glasses, not everyone has access to eye care.
“We’re hearing that a lot of the veterans here are not, they don’t have a benefit of a comprehensive eye exam and glasses through a VA systems, so that’s why we’re here,” said Kim Rankin, mobile clinics operations manager.
After finishing the eye exam, each veteran picked out frames for their new glasses.
