View from Inside the Lockdown

A Watertown, Massachusetts man who is business partners with a Eugene man spoke with KEZI 9 News Friday afternoon.

He described the scene outside his home as tense.

He says from his front door he could see SWAT teams and police officers flooding the area throughout the day. He says the Watertown community was on lockdown. No one was allowed out or in as SWAT teams went door to door to check on resident’s safety. From his house he says he could see all of the drama unfolding.

“About six cars, a van full of swat, a fire truck, an armored SWAT truck, another armored SWAT car, a humvee, I mean, it’s just like we’re going to war,” said Lanell Beckles.

He was supposed to go on a business trip Friday but says since his neighborhood was on lockdown, he wasn’t able to leave his home.
