Volunteers Give Back on Day of Caring

EUGENE, Ore. — Hundreds of volunteers showed they care for the community on the United Day of Caring.

The United Way of Lane County put on numerous projects across the county. Organizers say projects included various things such as yard work, picking up garbage and painting.

One of the yards being worked on in Eugene was at the Pearl Buck Center. Volunteers from Summit Bank weeded the play area as preschoolers ran around playing and smiling.

“Me personally, I’m a mother of three, and I like to do things not only for my kids’ activities. I volunteer for all of their activities, but I think it’s important to give back to other people’s children too,” said volunteer Kerry Lancey.

Organizers say this year Lane County saw more than 40 projects that included more than 400 volunteers.
