Volunteers Pack Food Boxes for Hungry

EUGENE, Ore. — The food has been collected. Now, St. Vincent de Paul needs more people to help pack it up.

The holiday food box is a time-honored tradition of the nonprofit.

Volunteers are busy boxing up 1,000 packs to give to the hungry in time for the holidays. But they are still asking for more donations, specifically turkey and ham which is the centerpiece of a holiday meal.

“They’re struggling to pay rent. They’re struggling to pay their bills. And to have to come up with Christmas food, which can cost $75 to $100 if you’re buying it, so this has a great impact on people,” said Carmen Peer, Lindholm Center Manager.

If you would like to donate food, you can bring it to any St. Vincent de Paul store.
