The luminaries were part of the set up for Saturday’s five mile Moonlight Run, which raised money for the stroke center at the RiverBend Hospital.
The event organizers took a twist on a normal 5K fundraiser run, and instead created a five mile run on a course lined entirely by luminaries and lit by the moonlight.
Event organizers said they expected around 1,000 runners.
“The great thing about it is it’s all University of Oregon students that donate their time entirely, they don’t take any compensation whatsoever. It’s taken eight months to prepare and it’s been a fantastic ride,” said race director Josh Sweigert.
