Volunteers Set Up Empty Bowls Sale

EUGENE, Ore. — Friday night is your chance to get your hands on a beautiful handmade bowl and help feed hungry families.

Food for Lane County started setting up for its annual empty bowl fundraiser Thursday.

Local artists and a number of Eugene residents made bowls at fuse-a-thon events that took place earlier this year.

The fundraiser runs Friday from 4-8 p.m. at The Dining Room, located at 270 W. 8th Ave. in Eugene.

“Let people see what the dining room is all about and see one of our programs that we do. The emergency meal site that we operate, a lot of people don’t know what it looks like, so this is your chance to come support us,” said Dawn Marie Woodward, Food for Lane County spokeswoman.

Each of the bowls comes with a coupon for a free bowl of soup either at the fundraiser or a number of local participating restaurants.
