Voter Turnouts Low for Special Election

EUGENE, Ore. — Elections officials have been processing thousands of ballots as the Tuesday deadline for the special election approaches.

As of Monday afternoon, voter turnout was just over 25 percent, but the Lane County Elections Office says it’s expecting better numbers by 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Voter turnout in Benton County was 13 percent, as of Monday afternoon. In Coos County only 18 percent of ballots have been returned, and in Douglas County only 22 percent.

Nearly 26 percent of Lane County voters have turned their ballots and Linn County has 22 percent of its ballots back.
