Waffle Shop Hosts End of the World Party

EUGENE, Ore. — We’re in the clear. The Mayan calendar predicted the world would end Friday morning, but we’re still here.

One Eugene business Off the Waffle is celebrating a new beginning. The waffle restaurant opened its new downtown shop a few weeks ago, but starting at 8 p.m. Friday until 1 a.m. Saturday, it’s having an official End of the World grand opening party. There will be live music and a ribbon cutting ceremony.

“Now that the world’s over, we can start fresh with a grand opening of our new store. We thought it would be a perfect time to kind of kick it to a new start. We’re going to have a couple bands tonight,” said Omer Orian, Co-Owner.

Other apocalypse activities tonight–the WOW Hall is hosting an event called Dawn of a New Age, which will include music and dance focusing on the positive view of the Mayan calendar.

Also, Diablo’s Downtown Lounge has a Christmas comedy show followed by a “Not the Apocalypse” party.
