Walk-A-Thon Raises Money for Education

EUGENE, Ore. — Parents, children and educators joined together on Friday to raise money for local preschool programs.

The 11th Annual Walk-the-Diamond at Bethel Community Park raised money to help 20 Early Education programs throughout Eugene, Springfield, Veneta, Junction City and Creswell. Organizers say the money that comes from state funding isn’t enough to help every student.

“We’ve done this every year for eleven years and it’s a lot of fun for families; it’s the biggest fundraiser that we have,” says Lisa Henderson, a supervisor at the Early Education Program.

The Early Education Program serves more than 200 preschoolers a year; more than half are students with disabilities.
