Walmart Helps Police Catch Suspects

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Springfield Police enlisted the help of several businesses to track down three burglary suspects.

Officers say someone broke into a home on l Street, taking more than $250 in change. Police asked neighboring retailers to be on lookout.

Officers were waiting for the suspects when they allegedly showed up to the Walmart on Olympic Street to turn in the stolen coins. Now Springfield Police is trying to link them to other burglaries.

“Once in a while we get these people out there. They usually do several in a row, so we want to caution everybody to always be careful to help them not be a victim,” said Sgt. John Umenhofer, Springfield Police Department.

Police also said they recovered additional stolen property from previous burglaries from the suspects.
