Friday Night Weather Discussion from Chief Meteorologist Justin Stapleton
We’re really seeing the influence of a dip in the jetstream bringing in the cooler westerly air as highs only reached the upper 70s on Friday. Tonight will see more “good sleeping weather” with clear skies through early morning and lows falling into the upper 40s and low 50s.
By Saturday and certainly Sunday, high pressure will be back, just not as intense as earlier this week. Some light morning cloud cover will be likely along the coast and in the Umpqua Basin, otherwise both weekend days will see highs back into the low to mid 80s and plenty of sunshine. I’m expecting another breezy day on Saturday and it continues to stay extremely dry so take care if you’re planning to use up any leftover fireworks.
Early next week is when the “mini” heatwave returns. Highs climb back into the upper 80s and even low 90s by Tuesday. Good news is the ridge building back in will back off midweek and by Thursday, similar to today, another weak trough of low pressure moves through the Northwest, bringing a new shot of cooler air.
Have a great weekend!
