Washington-Jefferson Skatepark Progress

skatepark pictureEUGENE, Ore. — The Washington-Jefferson Skatepark is starting to take shape and getting organizers excited.

The project broke ground in October and board members say the project is on schedule. They say the progress has been great and they’re even looking at an early opening in April. Talks about the skate park has been around for about nine years and board members they’re happy to see it come together.

“It’s exciting. It’s very exciting. When you go down there and you see what they’ve done already, you just kind of envision lots of people, lots of activity, just a lot of fun taking place down there,” said Janet Brown, an organizer with Skate for Eugene.

Brown says the official grand opening is scheduled for National Skate Day on June 21st.

It’s actually “Skaters for Eugene Skateparks”, not “Skate for Eugene” and National Go Skateboarding Day.
