Water Pump Project Causes Road Detour

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Work is under way on a new water pump in Corvallis.

The city says the water pump on the corner of 36th Street, Grant Avenue, and Witham Hill isn’t up to standards.

Part of the intersection will be closed off until September, which is when the city projects the road construction to be finished.

The city says the new water pump should be installed by April, and residents’ water shouldn’t be affected. So far, residents say they haven’t been bothered by the work.

“Not really. The way the intersection’s constructed, you can still manage to get around it,” said Corvallis resident Chance Lewis.

Drivers can’t directly turn left onto 36th Street from Grant Avenue. Instead, they need to go up to the Witham Hill intersection.
