EUGENE, Ore. — This unusually powerful first fall storm is causing some road hazards and keeping public works crews busy over the weekend.
Oregon Department of Transportation reports three trees have fallen along a section of Highway 101 near Gardiner due to strong wind gusts. There’s also high water reported in parts of Coos Bay.
Downed trees are also affecting Highway 99 just north of Cottage Grove.
A tree is also blocking an area on Highway 226 five miles east of Scio. Also a tree has fallen on utility lines on Highway 20 four miles east of Albany causing a signal outage.
Transportation officials are asking residents to take alternate routes and/or avoid any unnecessary trips in these areas at this time.
