The sunrise looked a little bit different today. As of 9 a.m. we have yet to see the sun in most of western Oregon, instead a thick cloud layer which is also delivering some heavy drizzle/light rain to the area.
The State Fire Marshall’s Office and local fire districts are working together to protect about 135 threatened structures in the evacuation zone of the Rogue River Drive Fire. The area is roughly a six mile stretch of Rogue River Drive.
An unusually hot and dry summer is putting the heat on fire crews. The Oregon Department of Forestry is working around the clock to monitor fires ignited by lightning. They say they've even called in help from other districts to aid in tracking efforts.
