A storm is delivering heavy rain to all of western Oregon this afternoon along with high winds at the Coast and breezy conditions inland. The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for the Oregon Coast from noon until 7 p.m. Friday for sustained winds from the south of 30 to 40 mph
The classrooms at Blodgett Elementary School sat empty Friday after a storm caused outages all around town. The school's principal says they lost power around 10:30 a.m. Thursday and let kids out of class shortly after that.
Highway 242 is officially closed for the season. Half a foot of snow covered the highway by mid-afternoon Thursday, and another eight to ten feet is expected through Friday. ODOT says it's just too difficult to maintain during the winter months.
