CORVALLIS, Ore. — A tragedy brings a community together Sunday in an event to remember who Brooke Wilberger was and what she meant to the community.
One after another, folks shared their stories about their efforts to find Brooke.
Cammy Wilberger thanked all the volunteers for their support over the years. She also told event goers not to see this as closure, but as an opening to what she’s witnessed from the community all these years, love.
The 19-year-old Wilberger went missing in May 2004 at an apartment complex.
Just a few weeks ago, long-time suspect Joel Patrick Courtney pleaded guilty to kidnapping and killing Wilberger. Courtney will spend the rest of his life in jail. As a part of the plea deal, Courtney told investigators where Wilberger’s remains were.
