The garden at Willagillespie Elementary includes raspberries, lettuce, peas, garlic and much more.
Students celebrated its completion by running through a balloon arch and singing.
School administrators say volunteers and more than four years of work helped bring the garden to life.
“You can extend learning outside the classroom. It has to be meaningful to them. It has to be relevant and exciting to them. And so I am really excited for the kids to have the opportunity to come to the garden,” said Stella Dadson, Willagillespie Elementary Principal.
The garden will become a kind of outdoor classroom–a living laboratory for studying soil, bugs, and plant growth as well as nutrition.
