EUGENE, Ore. — About 100 students are signed up to play on the Willamette High School football team this fall, but they have a problem. The team only has about 37 usable helmets. Now they’re turning to the community for support.
The team has launched a helmet sponsorship campaign to raise money for the new headgear. Each helmet costs $225, a steep price tag for many families. Each helmet lasts for 10 years and sponsors will get to pick the number on the helmet they buy.
