EUGENE, Ore, — The Willamette High School girls basketball team has much to celebrate Friday, a champion’s assembly was held to recognize the team’s state championship win.
The girls beat Springfield High School after narrowly losing to them last year.
“This year I felt like our younger kids have matured, and I felt like we were ready to play them, and the kids did a fantastic job,” said Paul Brothers, Head Coach.
“My whole life I’ve played basketball, and this is what it’s lead up to, and all the hard work’s just paid off,” said Willamette senior Carmen Wright.
The assembly also recognized several other teams, including the league champion boys and girls soccer teams, boys swimming and a student marketing team.
