Meteorologist Melissa Frey’s Forecast Discussion:

The first snow of the season is here! Pretty much everyone in western Oregon is seeing snow at this point. Here’s a look at early snow totals from weather spotters: NW Corvallis: 7″, Toledo: 2.5″, Veneta: 3″, Corvallis: 3-4″, Philomath: 4″, Eugene:  1-3″.

The area of low pressure responsible for all of this snow is making it’s way down the Oregon Coast. We’ll continue to see snow showers through this afternoon. The clouds will clear and we’ll be dry starting this evening. Temperatures for most of us will stay below freezing for the next 3 days.

Here’s current snowfall total predictions:

Coast: rain/snow mix with 1-2″ north and just inland.
Coast Range: 3-6″
South Valley: 2-5″
Lane County Foothills: 3-6″
Lane  County Cascades: 3-7″
Umpqua Basin: 2-5″
Douglas County Foothills (above 1,500′): 3-6″

Behind this storm it’s back to dry and still chilly weather Friday night. We’ll stay sunny and cold through the weekend with highs in the mid to upper 20s Saturday and lows in the single digits and teens Saturday night. Monday we should get above freezing during the day for a few hours, but still into the teens and 20s overnight.

Stay warm!

Sent some video of Oakland OR flurries and my first snow experience. I’m 9 years old and just moved here from Kailua O’ahu. My first snow!

Maybe there will be a Christmas this year. Times are tough for Mommy and Daddy. Will Santa find my trailer in snow?

Merry Christmas to You and Yours,

There is about 2 to 3 or more inches. Its been snowing since like 1am. I live in Indiola. And Indiola is right between Deadwood, and Swisshome, on Highway 36. We don’t usually get very much snow out here at all. It is nice to see it here. Thank you Samantha Dunsmoor
