Witnesses Sought in Attempted Abduction

Reported KidnappingEUGENE, Ore — Police are hoping someone saw an attempted abduction in Eugene Thursday afternoon.

An 18-year-old told police a man tried to grab her as she was walking to her car near 18th and Bertelsen. It happened at about 12:15 p.m.

She told police she broke free when the man first tried to grab her, but when she got to her SUV, he forced the door open and tried to pull her back out. She told police she fought back, kicking and screaming until he finally let go. He then fled and drove away in a 1990’s black Chevy extra cab S-10 pickup.

The suspect is described as a white man, in his 40s, 6 feet tall, with a muscular build. He was balding and had a neatly-trimmed goatee, and was wearing dark sunglasses and white tank top.

The teen saw several people nearby who may have seen the incident, and police would like to talk to any witnesses.
