The 33-year-old was found around 11:08 p.m. at S. Danebo Avenue near W. 11th Avenue. Police say a bicycle was found nearby, but there were no other vehicles near the area.
Emergency crews took the man to the hospital, but he died. The Eugene Police Major Collision Investigation team and the Forensic Evidence Unit was called out to investigate.
Detectives say they want to talk to witnesses who may have seen a man on a bike in the area before the incident, or if they saw him lying in the roadway, or any other information about the man. They say even the smallest details could help them figure out what happened.
The man is described as white, 5’10” tall, 180 pounds, with very short almost shaved brown hair and green eyes. He was wearing shorts or cut-offs, a grey short sleeve shirt, had a full black backpack, and a black baseball cap. He was riding a blue bmx-style bike. Most recently he was listed as a Springfield resident. Police are waiting to release his name until his family can be notified.
If you have any information that could help the investigation, you’re asked to call Officer Scott Dillon at 541-682-5470.
